SEC Penalties and Fines Totaled $6.4 billion Last Year


According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, $6.4 billion was spent on penalties and remedies for investors who were harmed by criminal and civil misbehaviors in the most recent federal fiscal year. The agency reported that it filed 760 enforcement actions for FY 2022, an increase of 9% over the previous year. 462 of these were completely new cases, which is up 6.5% annually.
